The Mighty Mississippi

This is the Mississippi River as viewed from Mud Island (Memphis, TN), facing South. You can see the "M Bridge" (M for Memphis) and a barge in the background, and driftwood in the foreground. We have quite a bit of driftwood deposited during Spring each year, as the thawing snow and ice to the north of us raise the river level.

That's such a nice view of the river and the bridge. In MA, some people collect driftwood to sell.

Great photo of the mighty Mississippi. And it looks cold too!

My friend would kill for that driftwood - he carves birds out of it!

The Mississippi sure is a pretty river, I grew up near it on the east side of St. Louis. Not E. St. Louis but close enough.

Well, I never thought about the shape of the bridge being an M, but it is!

It's been a while since I've gone over that bridge.

Just think of the history that went downriver? I flew over it in the area of Mississippi and was stunned at that time to see how it wandered around all over the place.

The Mississippi is a real treasure for those of us lucky enough to live near it! Love how you photographed the "M" bridge.

Great job, capturing the Mississippi, Andrea. I need to make a little trip over to the river, when the weather warms. I always hope to pick up a piece of driftwood. I look each time we cross over to IL. In fact, I think it's time for a little day trip to Calhoun County!
