Then & Now....The Peabody Hotel Continental Ballroom
I always love seeing "then and now" photos, especially when great care has been taken in the restoration of historic buildings. The top photo is the Continental Ballroom at the Peabody Hotel as it looked in 1925. Just below that photo is the Continental Ballroom as it looked when we visited just a few weeks ago.
I was so pleased at how much of the wonderful period detail remains, after all these years. The photo below shows a bit more of that glorious detail. The Peabody definitely never disappoints!

I love the then and now pics also. Its a very nice ballroom and it does look wonderful, and close to the 1925 pic.
I feel the same way and love to look at "then and now" books as well. It's always interesting to compare.
This historic building seems quite elegant and I am glad to hear it has been very well preserved too.
Yes, I really enjoy the "then" and "now" photos too. These are lovely.

I prefer the then photo. It's much more romantic.

What an amazing room - then or now. I've always wanted to visit the Peabody. One day, one day...
super photographs. I'd think not easy to photograph indoors, with the lights.
Thank you. I love such too. Oh I so love it when beautiful old architecture is cared for and use still.

Elegant and beautiful bllroom! A lot of history here, glad time has been spent to upkeep it.
These are beautiful shots! Several years ago I stayed at the Peabody when in Memphis for a business trip. I have a Peabody duck Christams ornament to remind me of my visit.
What elegance. Spaces back then seemed to have more meaning.

Then and now pictures - I side on the then side. Look at my avatar and you will see why I like the then pictures. My now pictures aren't crummy but they don't hold a chance against the 'then' pictures.
Wow- I had to go to Texas (Cote de Texas) to find you, right here in my back yard! Beautiful blog(s)- It's wonderful to see our great city's beauty and style represented so well... :::Cheers:::
