You've seen these types of places before...old, charming service or gas stations that have been preserved just as they were years ago. They are often now used as antique shops, or sometimes fun, quirky little diners. The thing I love about this one, located on the Collierville Town Square, is that it is still in use as a service station.
This building was built in 1927 by the McGinnis family as a service station, and also became the office for McGinnis Oil Co. (as a distributor for Sinclair Petroleum Products) in 1939. Every time I pass this building, or visit Collierville's town square, I am able to take a little trip back in time...at least for a little while.

I love to see these kinds of stations. I like that the pumps are under a real roof of the building, not just under a tin roof or an island.
I too like that it hasn't changed over time. I've always admired that building.
I love old buildings like that. It's good that it hasn't been torn down to make room for more strip malls. (Ugh, I'm so sick of their proliferation here in Jackson!)
A service station? In this new age of self serve everything? just the other day, due to long checkout lines at the grocery store, I had to scan my own groceries. Can you imagine? I hope this Service Station keeps on.
